Tradition

At PileByg you will find people with unique expertise and enthusiasm for transforming the ‘willow tradition’ into contemporary design. But we do not only have a tradition for using willow. Solid and expert craftsmanship is a matter of course at PileByg. The same applies to the sustainable cultivation of willow at our farms in Northern Jutland and to the detailed advice and assistance we provide to our partners and customers.

An important principle in our work is respecting nature’s own materials. We do not recommend treating dried willow, but rather planting it with evergreen plants. This ensures attractive, natural aging where a weather-beaten weave is combined with the shiny green foliage of ivy, for example. Living willow needs water and pollarding. All our customers receive our free newsletter on how to care for their willow products.

Innovation is also part of our daily work. Land Art and new willow products are continuously being developed and you are always welcome to contact us with ideas and inspiration for novel ways of using willow. PileByg’s shelter and noise abatement solutions constitute a tried and tested concept and we possess the required technical skill, certifications and methods to tailor fencing and noise barriers to each specific location.

The willow tree has been used for both practical and decorative objects such as baskets and fencing since the late Stone Age – and our vision is to continue this more than thousand-year-old tradition for using willow and combine it with state-of-the-art technology.
